British Snow Tour introduces national ranking system

Want the chance to see your name in lights for your snowpark skills? Thanks to the organisers of the British Snow Tour you could, as they’ve introduced the UK’s first national ranking system for freeskiers and freestyle snowboarders.

The British Snow Tour takes place annually across the UK’s indoor and outdoor ski and snowboard venues and is an opportunity for anyone to get involved with competing. Whether your skills and ambition lie in the big air, slopestyle or skier/boardercross, there’s an event for you.

And for the first time this season, those points that mean prizes at the individual events will be added to a national, ongoing leader board. For UK riders starting out, this is your chance to make their mark on the competition scene without having to take the huge step of launching straight into the European ranking system (previously the only option).

The British Snow Tour events are open to anyone of pretty much any age, and to make things more inviting this season, the competition set up has been tweaked to include a more relaxed and welcoming jam session to kick things off.

During the jam session spot prizes will be given out, then instead of selected riders going forward to a final as in previous years, every rider will get three runs and the best one will count. Added to this mix will be a group of seeded riders – the top 10 finishers from last season – who will be guaranteed entry and will ride last in each heat.

The changes to the competition format have come about following feedback from riders and judges, while the long term plan is that other national freestyle events will sign up to be included in the British ranking system.
