The winners of the World Snow Awards 2012 were revealed this evening, Friday 2nd November, at a buzzing ceremony in Earls Court 2, home to the Ski and Snowboard Show.
Comedian and avid snowboarder Marcus Brigstocke hosted the event. He said: “It’s been a great night here at Earls Court with the industry celebrating these inaugural awards. I hope this becomes an annual fixture in the snowsports calendar as it’s important to celebrate excellence in an industry which is so full of energy and promise.”
The awards were presented in categories including best European resort, North American resort, ski and snowboard brands, airline, and specialist and mainstream tour operators.
Winning a World Snow Award is recognised as an independent stamp of approval for a company and its products, singling them out from the competition. The winners were chosen by a panel of industry experts including ex-Olympic skiers Martin and Graham Bell and Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard magazine editor, Henry Druce.

The 20 strong panel of industry experts including Ski Sunday presenters Graham Bell and Ed Leigh voted on a shortlist of resorts assessing what improvements had taken place during the previous season. Livigno took the crown this year because skiing and snowboarding off piste here has finally been made legal with six slopes designated as freeride zones, with entry gates, safety warnings, avalanche risk information and machines to check your avalanche transceiver is working OK.
